As Protoss there is a not entirely obvious, but very effective way of getting up and running fast. Using Chrono Boost (Nexus ability) on your Nexus. This ability costs 25 energy, but don't use it just when you reach 25 - wait for your first Pylon to finish - otherwise you will have a downtime in Probe production that will waste your first Chrono Boost.
